BIOGRAPHY

“What these two musicians had to offer was from the very first note simply breathtaking: (…) here predominated a complete chamber music rapport which was combined with a profound and highly intelligent understanding of the works. This combination had to result in a pinnacle of achievement.”  (General-Anzeiger Bonn, 8th of May 2018, on the concert in Beethovenhaus Bonn on May 6, 2018)

Anouchka and Katharina Hack have been bringing musical freshness and passion for some years now both as soloists as well as in Duo to concert halls including Beethovenhaus Bonn, Gasteig Munich, Fondation Louis Vuitton Paris and Konzerthaus Dortmund.

The Duo plays numerous recitals appreciated by press and audience alike; they were broadcast by the WDR and NDR and by medici.tv. In November 2018 they gave their debut at the Berliner Philharmoniker Lunch concert series at the Berliner Philharmonie, in summer 2019 they were invited to play a recital at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.

Concert engagements for the current season comprise a China recital tour of the Duo, Solo appearances with (amongst others) the Zagreb Soloists and chamber concerts, such as in the big hall of the Elbphilharmonie. In June 2020 the Duo´s first CD will be released at GENUIN classics, featuring works by Dimitri Schostakowitsch.

Since making their debuts in 2010 and 2011, Anouchka and Katharina Hack regularly perform with various orchestras, such as the Dortmunder Philharmoniker, the Sinfonia Rotterdam and the French Chamberphilharmonic. In 2017 they were granted the „Young Artist Award“ at International Music Festival Buxtehude and in the 2017/18 season were presented in the series „Best of NRW“.

Born 1994 in Cologne and 1996 in Antwerp, Katharina and Anouchka Hack received their musical education as pre-students at the Musikhochschule Cologne from Prof. Ilja Scheps and Prof. Hans-Christian Schweiker; from 2014 to 2018 they studied at the Academy of Music in Lübeck with Prof. Konstanze Eickhorst and Prof. Troels Svane. Since 2018, they continue their studies with Prof. Bernd Glemser (Würzburg) and Prof. Frans Helmerson (Berlin), from fall 2020 on studying in Konzertexamen (Katharina Hack) and at the renowned Kronberg Academy (Anouchka Hack).

They received further musical impulses from David Geringas, Daniel Barenboim, Gary Hoffman, Andrej Jaszinski and Anatol Ugorski and from Gautier Capuçon, for who’s „Classe d´Excellence de Violoncelle“ Anouchka Hack was selected in 2017/18.
